  • This automatically makes you a preferred partner for physicians, their staff and your teammates.

What will I learn in the PRC program?

The Pharmaceutical Representative Certification curriculum consists of 10 modules:

Have you ever wondered whether physicians were speaking the same language as you when you engaged a conversation with them about diagnostics, diseases, and therapeutic areas? Indeed, it is sometimes difficult to understand their explanations because most of the medical words are coming from the Greek and Latin languages.

This module will help you understand how those difficult words are structured and will give you some vocabulary and tools to decipher them.

This learning module will explain in detail how the interaction between pharma companies and HCPs are crucial elements for the benefits of not only the companies but also the patient populations and the healthcare system in general. Additionally, the module will discuss the FDA laws and regulations related to pharmaceutical industry marketing. You will gain a comprehensive overview related to the applicable laws and industry standards regarding the nature of interaction between how pharma should be interacting with healthcare providers (HCPs).

As drug development costs skyrocket and pharmaceutical manufacturers increase drug costs considerably, understanding the economic value of a drug, device or diagnostic test becomes vital. As such, pricing and reimbursement in the pharmaceutical industry is central to healthcare.

This module provides the basic Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) principles that you should be familiar with including the steps involved for assessing pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes studies.

This module will provide you with an overview of pain, opioid use, regulations, and associated risks.

  • Understand the different pains and the opioids mechanism of action
  • Understand the risks of opioid usage that can lead to addictions and drug abuses
  • Be aware of recommendations and regulations for opioid prescription and surveillance
  • Identify the different types of pain
  • Identify the types of opioid receptors (mu, kappa and delta) and their reaction to the presence of different types of opioids
  • Differentiate between opioid agonists, partial agonists, and antagonists
  • Understand the risks associated with opioid therapy

Pharmacology is the study of the interactions between molecules and living organisms. This entails to characterization of their pharmacological properties: actions of the drugs on a system, i.e. pharmacodynamics, and actions of the body on the drugs from its administration to its excretion, i.e. pharmacokinetics.

This module will enable you to understand the different characteristics of a drug and how they are important for therapeutic success.

This module focuses on the concept of homeostasis and how drugs act to restore it when main systems are affected. The first part describes nervous and hormonal regulations of the main functions in the body and the drugs that target these systems. After understanding this knowledge, the module then describes the targets of drugs on the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system and the respiratory system and the drugs used in oncology.

This module provides an overview of the means of drug fraud, frequently abused drugs, the effect that these issues have on society, and the strategies currently in place to address these issues.

This module provides an overview of the different types of literature and study designs available. It will give you tools to conduct your research efficiently, to pick the most relevant articles according to the evidence-based medicine evaluation, and to read the results and conclusions with a critical mind set.

This module provides an overview of the drug classification. It will provide you with tools to remember the various groups of drugs based on their names and mechanisms of action.

The focus for this module will be on the processes, principles, and capabilities required to have high value/high impact interactions with your external stakeholders (physicians, nurses, physician assistants and other healthcare providers).
